Benefits of Owning Your Own Home

Five percent may not seem like that much at first.

But... take a second look...

If you bought a $200,000 house, you probably did not pay cash for your home, more than likely you got a mortgage. It would be possible to put much less down but let's say you put twenty percent down.  You would be investing $40,000.

At the appreciation rate of 5% annually, the appreciation on your $200,000  home during the first year would be $10,000. That would mean you earned $10,000 on an investment of $40,000. Your annual "return on your investment" would be a whopping twenty-five percent.

Of course, on your home, you are making mortgage payments and paying property taxes, as well as a couple of other costs. However, the interest on your mortgage and your property taxes are both tax deductible. 

The exciting thing is that you are a homeowner and...the rate of return on your home is higher than almost any other investment you could make.
